Unoriginal mini-series..."Earth"

I really find makeup incredibly relaxing- I put on some music, and then just create a look, and I just concentrate on the look or the music, and my mind is put at ease. It's not as intense as the release I get from playing guitar, but hey, it's another creative outlet and I'm really starting to enjoy it more. SO, with that, I've decided I'm going to do a mini-series. I know this has probably been done a million times, but I'm going to do the elements. Today I did earth, so here's pics and a product list:

MGMT, LOTW, & other acronyms

I have had the song "Kids" by MGMT stuck in my head all day. But all I could remember was "...yourself, take only what you need..." and then the main riff...Luckily, I found it very quickly on Google. Since I never listen to the radio, these songs that I hear when I'm shopping get stuck in my head and I can never hear them. Haha. Normally I don't like this genre but there's something about this that I like...something about this singer's voice actually kind of reminds me of The Killers. They also have this cool little keyboard/synth solo in there that would sound 10x better on guitar...Hmm...Yeah. :)

Anyways, I have that makeup look that I said I would post. I did this for MakeupGeek's Look of the Week challenge...I'm not sure how I feel about it, they're kind of strange colors I probably wouldn't put together normally.

Not the strongest I've ever done, but I figured I'd post it in here for good measure, I probably won't post it on MakeupGeek. The silver in the reference picture was lighter, and I didn't have that light of a silver, so that kind of made it look a little muddier than I would have liked. Also, the coloring just didn't turn out very vibrantly in the pictures I took, which disappoints me. It looked better in real life...which is funny, cuz normally I look better in pictures! :D

I was really sad because I lost my MAC 217 brush for 2 days! I thought I was gonna have to buy another one because I use that every day(when it's not lost, that is, bahaha), but last night I found it...it had fallen behind my vanity dresser. Durr. I should have looked there first! I'm silly sometimes :p

Anyways, I'm off for now :)

MAC madness!

So I'm torn. Oh, how I wish I had more money! There is the 25% off MAC sale going on and I have my eye on paint pots, blushes, lipsticks, and brushes...however there is a good chance my best friend and I are going shopping tomorrow...and I love clothes and jewelery and all that other madness. Of course, I always end up at the MAC counter in the mall eventually, haha.
Ah! Phone call. I'm actually going shopping TODAY. So...what I'm thinking...if I can manage to not spend all my extra cash shopping today...then I'll reward myself with the MAC sale :D By the way, I'm really loving the song "All Over You" by The Spill Canvas. Kind of upbeat for such sad lyrics though...whatever, it's catchy and I really like the straightforward lyrics.

Where girly meets guitar?

I've noticed that throughout these past few months I've been getting more and more girly. I first started really getting into the artistry of makeup(though I've always been interested in it) about...I'd say 8 or 9 months ago...progressively, I've been getting more and more girly...which is okay, but sometimes it's hard considering being a guitarist is not really a girly job.
I mean, there's the sweating off makeup onstage, you can't apply makeup with the fingertips on your left hand(the skin is tough and it peels, so you can't apply concealer under your eye or anything like that)...but I think what I dislike most is that I can't have really pretty nails. I use my hands so much, the polish inevitably comes off pretty soon(mind you, I paint my nails most of the time anyway) and I can't use fake nails or anything because they're too long :( It sucks, but if that's the price that it comes with, that's fine with me :)

I did go shopping yesterday, nothing too extensive. I stopped by Rue 21 and picked up a cute blue tank top- it's really pretty, it has this rainbow flower detail on the front, but it's really subtle. It brings out the blue in my eyes, which is always a big plus :) Also, I picked up this gorgeous cream and bright pink halter dress. It's really cute for summer, and it has that fitted bottom with this subtle poof- but it doesn't make me look shapeless. It's actually really flattering, so I'm very happy about that!
But best of all...of course I had to stop by The Cosmetics Company Outlet! Unfortunately, I had to limit myself to one item as I just found a new website, but we'll get to that in a sec...I was thinking about getting a paint pot, and I was going to get the Rubenesque paint pot just because its gorgeous and it would enhance so many of my looks...but I wanted to check out the brushes. I'm still working on building my brush collection- as any makeup addict knows, brushes aren't cheap. I have 5 (now 6) MAC brushes, just very basic, the bare essentials. Anyways, I found the 239 brush for only $17.50, which is awesome since it's $24.50 if you buy it from MAC :) So I'm very happy, now I can start saving for face brushes! ...that will take awhile. haha.
WEBSITE THOUGH! I was reading some blogs(my new favorite hobby, yay) and came across allcosmeticswholesale.com, and just had to check it out, of course...the MAC deals are pretty good, yeah...but the Urban Decay deals are fabulous...I did some research to make sure it was all legit and was satisfied with what I found. Soooo, I bought 2 Ultraglide Lip Glosses from Urban Decay, for about $4 each(retail $17). What's awesome is that out of the 4 colors they have, they had the 2 colors that I decided I wanted a few weeks ago! So I got "Lust" and "O"...I can't wait to check them out :)

Onto my music- my brother(he's a bassist) and I have been playing a lil bit of music lately and I'm starting to really feel passionate about it again...my passion kind of ebbs and flows, I'm told that's just the way it goes, so it's cool. Anyways, I'm playing a lot of acoustic stuff lately- acoustic covers of The Used, acoustic Bayside, Death Cab For Cutie(I want to learn "A Lack of Color"...sounds easy, but fun), etc...So that's all cool.
Speaking of which, I think I'm gonna go play some guitar now, so I'll be sure to update later. :)

How do you really make a first blog?

That's the question- how do you really make a "first blog"? Should there be something special to initiate it, or something? Probably not. I just wanted to get it out of the way, though. Hopefully this will be a cool experience for me- I really like journaling and sharing what I've learned, or what I know...so blogging should be cool, I've never really delved into it too much...(aside from that LiveJournal craze that happened a few years ago, but my LJ account is long gone)

Anyways, I hope today is a good one...I've gotta take off, I'm going shopping today...I can hear the makeup screaming my name now... :D
